So we are at the very tail end of summer and like any farmer you look back on how the year has gone so far and you put yourself in a mindset of "what worked", "what did not work" and sometimes " who is staying through the winter?". Our year has been a fun one so far with market and we have enjoyed all of the new families we have come across through this line of work!.
We are in fact thinning our Kune herd and have a breeding pair up for movement. These two are straight from Black Valley Farm in PA. Our Sow is bred but not by the boar we have up for movement so it's a great opportunity for you to hold back a gilt for future breeding on your property. They are both a little over 1 year old and have done great on our farm, but it is time to thin out, and we have chosen this pair. If this is something you are interested in please contact so we can firm up a time for you to come out and pick up. We are asking $2400 for them and the possibility of a future litter through Harley, one of our sows.
It's almost that time to Choose the Rooster!. We have such joy with our Icelandics but it is time to thin the roosters down. We are currently a bit rooster heavy and have chosen our 2 that we a retaining for our flocks breeding program. You can purchase as individual roosters to join your flock more so if you have Icelandic Hens in need of another rooster. We keep 2 roosters per hen group just in case we lose a Rooster from protecting his girls. Or we have another option and that is to part with one of our hens who are up and coming giving you a pair. We would ask 100/pair and $35/rooster. We do have a dozen of hatching eggs ready to go as well. Please go to the CONTACT US tab discuss pick up.
Also on the farm we do have some Homestead Growers that are ready for movement. Right now there are 3 available. We will be fixing them rather soon making them barrows. If growing out a piglet worries you, please note that these pigs are grazers so if you have access to pasture/grass or hay they will do just fine. Once the snow hits and the grass is either no longer due to weather or covered due to snow you can supplement them with pig/sow feed for a very short season with hay until the winter passes and you can them on pasture again. They do very well with this. Again, there are 3 Homestead Growers up for movement and if you would like to add some porkers to your property please contact. We are asking 225/HG
We will have more Homestead Growers once our sows who are with pig, farrow in October. Don't miss out in any of these offers contact to add one of these options to your homestead!.
Thanks.
