Kunekune Pigs
We have such joy raising our Kunekunes!. They are a very docile breed that I have found so easy to manage. I am a mother of 10 and all of my children can handle these beautiful pigs!. The boars , even intact, will roll over for a belly rub. At no point have I ever felt intimidated by any of them. The sows are wonderful mothers and will even care for each others piglets and farrow in the same farrowing hut together with no problem at all!.
These Kunekunes are native to New Zealand and have made their way all the way to the USA allowing them to make their mark as a wonderful meat pig. Meat that is red and marbled and the fat is just as tasteful, in which in some opinions, the fat goes head to head with meat in taste and texture. Making their butcher weight on pasture alone, is also a great attribute to this pig breed!. They need little to no supplement in the way of food..
We have piglets available now and will continue to have piglets available. If you would like to be on our waiting list please contact us for further details on how you could keep some yourselves as one of the best homesteaders pig!
